At the foot of the Tree we invite the world's Totems. They come from all places, Silesia and Zimbabwe, Chile and the mounts of Arée, southernmost China, from Alaska, from the Emirates and Canada. They are the witnesses of their forest, of their sky, of their knowledge, of their belief, their loves, they exist.
They are standing.

Here, face to the Seine
In a narrow row
They express,
aligned, in a round, hand in hand
in the garden of the island, in the shade of the Tree
they await us and say:

"You are the inheritors of the Earth
others before you have loved it, requested it, have celebrated it
others before you have cared for it.
It is now your turn."

Then each one will be able to answer
"I planted a Tree!"

In perpetual change, following invitations,
a ballet with mankind and the Earth,
the Dance of these beings is done and is undone at the edge of water.

The painter Dominique Penloup interprets the dance of the Earth by a series of small statuettes.
