The Earth Tree only occupies 314m² of ground or
0.3% of the island's surface.

This is why our proposal is completely open and can be married with other projects which will easily find their place beside the Tree.

This project is economically viable, it makes it possible to consider public/privé partnerships. Several private actors have expressed their interest in the Earth Tree project and PlanetObserver.

On the "île Seguin", Earth Island, we propose a garden, a Tree, and a terrace on the downstream point.

A 3 hectare garden between the two arms of the Seine, on the island's stern, whose programming and construction will be carried out by the local authorities.

A terrace from Seine to Seine, a 160 x 60m public square, horizontal parvis, square of the Earth Tree and entrance to the garden.

Around this public area, private or semi-public spaces are organized.
The Earth Tree, 314 m² at ground level, and situated at between 82 and 110 m above ground level, 2500 m² of terraces and walks and 1700 m² of exhibition space.

The PlanetObserver, 1000 m² at ground level, 3000 m² for the upper levels, housing reception areas, ticket offices, coffee shops, restaurants, conferences, and exhibitions,...

The Earth Dance and the Earth Prizes magnify this message.

It falls under the urgency of the safeguard of the planet in relation to to the incapacity of "politicians". It acts with the assistance of journalists like Nicolas Hulot, of scientists like Jean Louis Etienne, navigators like Isabelle Autissier.

The Earth Tree must make known and encourage participation.

- Make known : transmitting and receiving information: it gives to see, makes us aware. It works in liaison with: observatories, satellites, laboratories, universities, ONG, etc. It is the accelerator of the planet's network. It is the planet's watchtower filled with images of the Earth's beauties and dangers.

- Encourage participation, particularly of the young, with concrete actions: in the shade of the Tree it is the role of PlanetObserver.

3. This concept underlies a program of activities which is necessary and possible

1. The ascension into the Tree is an initiatory act : it is a geographical and ecological training. The ascension follows the spiral in a sensory awakening.
The immersion in the "habitacle" amongst the images from around the world must produce an effect of shock.

2. PlanetObserver at ground level :
- exhibitions, films, meetings, school trips and teaching, etc.
- The Project House is particularly dedicated to the stimulation of children's imaginations.

3. The Earth Dance

4. The Earth Prizes, whose financial budget is included in the running costs.

5. The terrace, whose surface is equivalent to that of the Pompidou Centre's esplanade, can receive performances, spectacles, temporary exhibitions, creative workshops and expression workshops.....

6. A centre for contemporary art similar to that which is under consideration by the French prime minister.

7. A design center.

8. Any other activities which could develop in the shade of the Earth Tree.
The visitor leaves the Earth Tree having been touched by the force of it's message.

He becomes an actor in the fight for the safeguard of the planet and his natural, artistic, and ethnic richness.

This project is real, necessary, possible:

- it refuses inaction,
- it educates,
- it inserts the visitors in problems of engagement,
- it is also aesthetic, because it is based on a global conception of the environment which is not limited to nature but takes into account all cultural diversity as Claude Lévi Strauss understands it,
- il est possible techniquement et financièrement .
- it is technically and financially possible. The site work could start in 6 months time.

If we do not undertake this project in France, others will do it elsewhere:
we should not let this historical occasion pass us by, we should stay true to our traditions and ambitions.
